Unofficially, many players are now meeting informally at our own risk each Tuesday evening 7pm – 10:30pm in the main Bar at the newly renovated Greenlands Inn.
Greenlands Chess Club does not endorse these meetings – this is not a Chess Club activity.
A Greenlands Chess Club “Risk Assessment” has not been undertaken because this is not a Chess Club Activity.
Greenlands Chess Club Safeguarding policy and insurance cover does not apply because this is not a Chess Club activity.
Everyone meeting is borrowing chess equipment at our own risk.
Neither Greenlands Chess Club nor any other Chess Organisation, has any determination over the rights of individuals to exercise the right of freedom of movement.
Government guidance has been issued for our area and has been practically followed.
If different Government instructions are issued, individuals are entitled to revise for themselves whether to frequent the Greenlands Inn if open; or to meet with friends in accordance with the rules of the day.
Government enforcement of lockdown is not presently the case in our area!
Government enforcement does currently apply in other areas of the country that are experiencing localised lockdown.
People frequenting the Greenlands Inn, including the general public, understand and accept the risk. There can be no claim people do not know the risk involved!
We maintain 1 metre+ Social Distancing from the General Public, sanitise hands regularly, and wear face masks when appropriate or compelled to do so.
We use antibacterial wipes to cleanse boards and pieces. The equipment we borrow is then quarantined until the next Tuesday.
There is a risk when visiting the Greenlands Inn!
